To amend Article V Officers, Section 3 Term of Office, to read as follows: Section 3. Term of Office. The international officers, with the exception of the President, shall succeed to the next office and serve for a term of one year or until their successors are elected and assume office. The position of Secretary will be elected at the international convention. The international officers shall assume office on July 1. International officers shall not serve more than one consecutive term in the same office. The reason: This recommendation came from the International Nominating Committee - Once an officer has been elected to the Executive Committee, no further campaigning, interviewing, election is needed as that person progresses through the other offices. Removal of an executive officer is the responsibility of the board of directors. Those serving on the board have a better perspective to determine whether the duties of an office are being fulfilled. It should also be noted that: The cost and time to campaign detracts from responsibilities and succession planning.  In other professional organizations, once elected to the initial position, officers "move up the chairs”.  Members are reluctant to serve on the international nominating committee due to at least a day long commitment. If the nominating committee limits its interviews to Secretary candidates, only; their time commitment is reduced and they can concentrate more on the entry level position.  Following is how this Bylaw currently reads.                                                                                ARTICLE V                                                                                   Officers Section 1. International Officers. The International Officers of NAIW shall be a President, President-Elect, Vice-President, and Secretary. Section 2. Qualifications. No two international officers shall be from the same region, except in the event of an officer’s inter-regional move.
